WHO IS A CHRISTIAN? PART 6
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
A Christian have been redeemed from the curse that came upon Adam and Eve for breaking God’s law and from the consequence of all of God’s law that our ancestors have broken. A curse is supernatural endowment not to prosper. The first time curse was mentioned in the bible was after Adam and eve broke God’s law and chose to take their instructions from the devil. The curse that was pronounced on the Adam and Eve also came on all that came after them, that is the human race. The divine ability to prosper was replaced by divine ability to fail and be doomed. That is why you see people do everything in their power succeed but there seems to be a greater force holding them back and making their effort futile. This is as result of the curse that came upon on Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:16, 17-19 – 16 To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.” ………Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. 18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. 19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.
For a person to work like an elephant and eat like an ant is a curse but thank God, Christ has redeemed us from the curse because Christ has taken our punishment and has fulfilled the law for us. In the bible, the curse is in three fold, spiritual death, sickness and poverty.
A Christian has been redeemed from spiritual death to eternal life. He has been redeemed from sickness to divine health; he has been redeemed from poverty to divine supply. So you are no longer under the curse you are in the blessing. But for the blessing to flow you must stand against the opposition and claim your rights in Christ.
Christ has redeemed you and you now know you are redeemed however, while the devil knows he does not agree that is why he your enemy and the opposition. But he is a liar and you must put him in his place by declaring your redemption and standing in faith until everything Christ bought for you is restored. Deuteronomy 28:1-14 outlines the blessing and verses 15 to the end outlines the curses. If it does not align with verses 1-14 of Deuteronomy 28, then it is a curse and you must not put up with it because you have been redeemed.
