Luke 9:1 – Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
Brethren, it is clear Jesus has handed over to us the Authority and Power over devils, sicknesses and over all the power of the enemy. Someone might be tempted to say OVER ALL? Indeed overall including poverty, cancer, fear, shame, disgrace, pain etc. What is that tormenting situation you are currently facing? You have the power over it. Crisis is not supposed to dominate or overwhelm us, rather to test if we truly know our identity in Christ and the power that is resident within us. The scriptures declare that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us. Hallelujah, that failed business can rise again, your health can be restored again.
THE PURPOSE OF THE POWER
Genesis 1: 28 – 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
The purpose of God’s power in us is to walk in the original plan and purpose of God for our lives (Walking in dominion). When man sinned, he lost his place, authority, position and power over all things; but thanks be to God who causes us to triumph in Christ (2 Corinthian 2:14). Jesus through His blood restored us back to the divine agenda and plan. Brethren, no matter the long standing issues we have faced, there is restoration in Jesus name. We are supposed to be fruitful and multiply, hence we have power over barrenness, stagnation and failure. We need to have full understanding that our dominion and power transcend the terrestrial because we have authority over principalities and powers, thoughts, imaginations.
2 Corinthians 10: 4-6 – 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
We have power over family strongholds, curses, hereditary diseases, ungodly soul ties and all manner of satanic manipulations that have tormented us for so long. We have the authority and power over circumstances to enforce compliance to the divine agenda of God for our lives, marriages, business, jobs, debts, sicknesses.
RULES TO WORKING IN POWER
CONFRONT
Proverbs 30:30 – ‘A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;’
God has not given us the Spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Tim 1:7). The bible declares we are more than conquerors (Romans 8: 37), hence we should have the confidence and boldness of a lion that does not turn back from any fight. The lion is the strongest animal and all other animals are afraid of it. We as Christians have the lion of the tribe of Judah (Jesus Christ) resident in us therefore we ought not to be afraid to fight.
TREAD
Luke 10:19 – Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
We are to take charge wherever we go. We should take authority over the atmosphere, threats of impending danger and bring about divine alignment. The power of God is resident in us to cause the removal of burdens and destruction of yokes. So take action.
NEVER STAND DOWN:
Matthew 18:18 – I promise you God in heaven will allow whatever you allow on earth, but God will not allow anything you don’t allow.
Many find themselves in situations where their back is against the wall and they feel the only way out is to stand down. The main policy in dealing with the devil is ‘NEVER NEGOTIATE’. It is pertinent we understand that we must never negotiate with the devil because he is the father of all lies (John 8:44).
Beloved, don’t stand down or give in to pressure. God has given us power to chart the course of our lives. We must never give up our divine placement for momentary pleasures or pressures. A lot of believers give up their power when we refuse to fellowship (Fellowship with God is our power source), others allow distractions; hence they lose focus and are entrapped. So don’t give in and don’t stand down
