The things that Jesus took for us and from us that we must never tolerate
FEBRUARY 14
Isaiah 53:4-5
Surely he (Jesus) took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
On the cross of Calvary, Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for our salvation and joy in life. As I sated in our previous study, our salvation include, the redemption of our spirit, soul and body from the oppression and dominion of the devil. Meaning when you made Jesus the Lord of your life, you became a citizen of heaven and your spirit is saved. Your soul is saved and transformed through the studying, believing and receiving the word of God daily. Your Body is saved through the application of the word you have received by acting on it and speaking it to your circumstance. The salvation of the spirit is instant but the salvation of the soul and body is progressive. That Pauls said, you should work out your salvation… he was referring to the soul and body.
The following are things that Jesus took from us and for us through his death and resurrection:
- Our infirmities – weakness from old age or illness (body)
- Our sorrows – mental suffering caused by loss or disappointment (soul)
- Our wounds – injury by violence (emotion/physical)
- Our bruises – injury that discolours the skin without breaking it (body)
- Our punishment – penalty for an offence /sin (spiritual)
The word took and carried in the above scripture mean to remove from a person by another, put upon one self and literally carried away out of sight of everyone. This implies that Jesus took form us our infirmities, sorrows, wounds, bruises, and punishment, put it on himself and took it away from us and out of sight. If Jesus has taken it so why do we still see and experience these things? There are various reasons for this; the first is ignorance of salvation and its benefits. Another reason for this is unbelief. Some find it difficult to abandon their previous belief system. They find it difficult to see themselves in new light. They wonder how a person can be sorrow and pain free. Another reason why people don’t experience what Jesus bought us is doubt or double mindedness. This is a major robber, it goes with a mindset like this, I believe but…… For all these reasons, people lose and lack the drive to resist the opposition and to walk freedom.
The following is way to rise up above and against the opposition and walk in freedom,
Find and receive the word – information/Knowledge on what belongs to you in Christ
Make the word of God you received your conviction by believing it; you do this by hearing it over and over again until it is rooted in you. When this happens faith is born.
Release your faith by speaking your conviction to your circumstance.
The result is your mountains begin to move.
