The 9 Gifts of The Holy Spirit – Part 5

1 Corinthians 12: 2- 11

There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:…………, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, ……… But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Power Gifts – The gifts that do something, they include the gift of faith, the working of miracles and the gifts of healing.

The Gift of working of Miracles

In Greek Miracle is defined as – Explosions of Almightiness, it means impelling, staggering wonders and astonishment. A miracle is a supernatural intervention in the ordinary course of nature, a temporary suspension of the accustomed order through the Spirit of God. Please note that the gift of faith helps the believer to receive miracles but the gift of working of miracles helps the believer to work miracles. The gift of faith is passive as it receives things, the gift of working of miracle is active as it does things. The working of miracle is a specific act. The working of miracle is so called because the gift is operated through a person.

Example.

John 6:6-14- miracles feeding the five thousand –

But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do. Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.” One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?” Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

The gifts of Healings

The purpose of the gifts is to deliver the sick and destroy the works of the devil in the human body. It is given by God for the supernatural healing of diseases without natural means. It comes by laying on of hands, anointing with oil or by just speaking the word. Healing received by yourself using your personal faith is not under this category. The gifts of healings are administered by another to you.

Examples – Ministry of Jesus, ministry of the apostles

Acts 10:38 – how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
