1 Corinthians 12: 1- 11
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

1 Corinthians 12:31 – But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

Today we will continue to explore and unveil all the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how to walk in them.

There are 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit and they are in 3 categories. They are as follows: –

Revelation gifts – They reveal something

Word of wisdom, Word of knowledge, Discerning of Spirits

Utterance gifts – They say something

Prophecy, divers kinds of tongues and interpretation of tongues

Power gifts – They do something

Gift of faith, working of miracles, and the gifts of healing

Power Gifts – The gifts that do something, they include the gift of faith, the working of miracles and the gifts of healing.

The gift of faith or Special faith – Those who possess the gift of faith believe God in such a way that He honours their word as His own and He miraculously brings it to pass. It is a supernatural endowment by the Spirit whereby that which is uttered or desired by man, or spoken by God shall eventually come to pass.  It is the gift of the Spirit to the believer that he might receive miracles. The gift of faith is different from the other types of faith in the bible. There four different kinds of faith.  They are: –

Saving faith, which leads one to Salvation, Ephesians 2:8 ….by grace are ye saved…

General faith which every believer has, Romans 12:3, …God dealt to everyman the measure of faith. This increases by studying the word.

The fruit of faith – or faithfulness, – Note the fruit are for the development of Christian character and the gifts are to produce power in the believer’s life. Galatians 5:22

The gift of faith – The gift of special faith is not imparted to all, but only as the Spirit wills.

When the gift of faith is in operation, what is said ultimately comes to pass.

Daniel 6:19-23 – Daniel in the lion’s den. Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste to the den of lions.  And when he came to the den, he cried out with a lamenting voice to Daniel. The king spoke, saying to Daniel, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live forever!  My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.” Then the king was exceedingly glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no injury whatever was found on him, because he believed in his God.

The Gift of working of Miracles

In Greek Miracle is defined as – Explosions of Almightiness, it means impelling, staggering wonders and astonishment. A miracle is a supernatural intervention in the ordinary course of nature, a temporary suspension of the accustomed order through the Spirit of God. Please note that the gift of faith helps the believer to receive miracles but the gift of working of miracles helps the believer to work miracles. The gift of faith is passive as it receives things, the gift of working of miracle is active as it does things. The working of miracle is a specific act. The working of miracle is so called because the gift is operated through a person.

John 6:6-14- miracles feeding the five thousand –

But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do. Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.” One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?” Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.”  Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.  Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

The gifts of Healings

The purpose of the gifts is to deliver the sick and destroy the works of the devil in the human body. It is given by God for supernatural healing of diseases without natural means. It comes by laying on of hands, anointing with oil or by just speaking the word. Healing received by yourself using your personal faith is not under this category. The gifts of healings are administered by another to you.

Examples – Ministry of Jesus, ministry of the apostles

Acts 10:38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
