Steps to a life of Excellence – 3

The third step in achieving excellence is to rely on the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.

The Holy Spirit is our teacher and guide who leads us in accordance with God’s will. Looking back over the years I have observed that the major progress I have made in my life and ministry came from seeking and following the leading of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit Himself is the very Spirit of excellence, so following His lead will always ends up in excellence in your life.

I observed that some people think that the Holy Spirit is smart only when it comes to church matters. They are not aware that the Holy Spirit can lead them in their business, education, marriage, child rearing etc. In recent times I have had the Holy Spirit lead me specifically on how to make money and where and when my next breakthrough will come. I remember on a particular occasion the Lord told me how much I will harvest that month. Some of the directions He gave me didn’t make any sense to my human mind but because I have developed a relationship with the Holy Spirit by fellowshipping with Him I have come to trust His leading more than my feelings and assumptions.

Sometimes when God lays some things in my heart which appear to be new territory and challenging for me to comprehend, I consult with my mentor and people that are more spiritually mature and in tune for advice. Afterwards, most of the time, I see more clearly what the Holy Spirit is telling me.

Getting to the high place that God has assigned for you will require supernatural guidance from the Holy Spirit. Don’t wait for Him to come to you, go to Him and ask for His lead, after all He is our helper. It is important that you are aware that spending time in prayer helps you get the leading of the Holy Spirit easily and consistently. Furthermore I want you to know that the Holy Spirit will never lead you against the word of God in any way.
