Steps to a life of Excellence – 1

Mark 7:37And they were overwhelmingly astonished, saying, He has done everything excellently (commendably and nobly)! He even makes the deaf to hear and the dumb to speak! (The Amplified Version)

The world celebrates excellence and despises mediocrity. God is an excellent God. During His lifetime on earth Jesus was excellent. He wants you to excel and be the best. In the next few days I want you to join me on the journey to a life of excellence.

The first step to excellence is Dedication.

Deuteronomy 28:1& 13

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them.

Dedication is to commit oneself or time wholly to a purpose. In this regard we are focusing on excellence in every area of life. This includes spiritual, physical, and material. The willingness to pay the price to be the best in your field, relationship with God, marriage, office etc. begins with a quality decision to take the high road and not settle for failure or mediocrity. This is well encapsulated in what Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14, Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

This implies his readiness to go all the way and give everything possible to achieve excellence. He will not allow yesterday’s successes or problems deter him from pressing into the very best that God had for him. So if I may ask, have you found your life’s dream and purpose? If not find, it by asking God to show it to you. If you have found your purpose are you totally dedicated to it or are you unfocused? Let me advise that when it comes to your chosen career, marriage, ministry or business total dedication is a prerequisite for total excellence. You cannot afford to put very little into your marriage, education, business etc. and expect great dividend. Remember, what you put into life is what you will get out of it.
