Eccl. 10:10 If the iron be blunt and he does not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

Job 36:3 I will fetch my knowledge from afar…

It’s so wonderful to see the dawn of a new season with so much in stock from our Father, God who has prophetically positioned us for increase and opportunities through personal development. This season, we are required to hone our skills and raise the ante on our personal effectiveness and efficacy as a means to attracting exciting opportunities.

The scripture above shows us how frustration results from using blunt equipment are. You cannot stay on the same level of effectiveness in your job, trade or ministry and expect better returns. Only a mad man will do that. It’s time for you to leave your comfort zone and launch out into the world of personal development.

I recall the time when I was going to venture into the world of entrepreneurship, I found that every business involves convincing people about your product whatever it may be. I went into a desperate search for literature that taught extensively on how to market products. I also observed that Jesus Christ was acknowledged as an awesome speaker according to Luke 4:22 and I saw that His oratory disposition had positive effects on His listeners with testimonies following. So I decided to find out the keys of positive speaking. As I learned the secrets, I deployed them and reworked them. Later on, I found that my communication skills were improving but my specialised knowledge was still insufficient. What did I do?

I went into another round of extensive research into the way things work in the areas of my business and ministry interests. I started attending seminars and workshops and expanded the scope of my reading to address key areas of deficiency in critical areas. I censored all the information I was getting with Bible teaching to ensure that I was not breaking the covenant and any philosophy or concept that was not in line I discarded like hot iron. As I continued to do this, I observed with great delight as my persona evolved into that of a focused, dynamic and aware Christian fully equipped and ready to make the most of every opportunity that came knocking.

Till date, I still spend time unearthing new openings for personal growth and development and this is hinged on my eternal dedication to getting better with each passing day. Like Apostle Paul I do not feel …  as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after… Php 3:12. I know that good is the enemy of perfect so I keep pressing towards perfection in everything I do. The moment you start believing that you have arrived, you will soon discover that you have been left behind. Remember, today’s excellence is tomorrow’s mediocrity.

Make up your mind that you will spend this season to really upgrade yourself so that when the opportunities come knocking, you will not be found at your wits end.

You are going up!
