Right action but wrong heart and attitude – self righteousness
Isaiah 54:6 – But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
My charge today is for you to know that for every good thing God does in us the devil devises a way to thwart it and produce a counterfeit. In the case of true obedience the counterfeit is self-righteousness. This is the right act carried out with a wrong motive.
The world system of promotion and success mostly thrives on this principle. This is why God hates gambling because someone always loses but God does not intend for any one of his children to lose if they cooperate with Him.
Christians today are hurting each other in the name of fulfilling God’s purpose for their lives; they are careless about what becomes of those who are affected as long as the job gets done. Friend, this ought not to be. People and their well-being are God’s first priority and not the achievement of things.
Self-righteousness is not true righteousness . Being more self-conscious than God conscious is self-worship. A self righteous and self-conscious person is only motivated by what is in it for them right now – what they can gain and the position they can attain.
Friend, begin to celebrate one another’s gifting and differences in love and not in jealousy. You don’t need to outdo anybody except yourself. Be the best at whom God has made you and not at what he has not called you to be.
