Rewards of a Godly Character Part 2
Acts 6:1-7 – Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution. Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the Word of God and serve tables. Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word.” And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch, whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them. Then the Word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
It makes you an essential commodity and sought after.
Nobody looks for second best; everybody wants the best. Godly character in your daily living makes you the best. Today, godly character is very rare in our world. Very few, including Christians, demonstrate it. This is because it takes a lot of commitment, time and consistency to develop it. We live in a fast paced world but character is developed over a long period. The world system wants quick results. There is a push for quantity above quality in some cases. It is fast becoming about who has the most customers, the most members, the most toys and material proofs and less and less about the process and time it took to get there. But friend, the God we deal with is the God of process and He continually seeks for those through whom He might show Himself strong. The big names in business and ministry that have stood the test of time have more credibility than those with overnight success. People know it takes time to build godly character and they tend to seek out the people with godly characters when they are looking for tenacity and longevity. Character is an essential commodity that makes you significant and sought after.
