Red Hot Desire
1 Corinthians 12:31 – But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
Jeremiah 29:13 – And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart
Psalm 42:1 – As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.
I welcome you into the season of the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. To manifest means to ‘show plainly’ or ‘be evidence of’. A gift is a present. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are made available to every child of God. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are nine in all and are given to every child of God as the Holy Spirit wills for profitable living. According to Oral Roberts the best gifts of the Holy Spirit are the ones you need at the moment. It is the will of God for us to manifest the gifts of the Holy Spirit in our daily life and not once in a while or during special programmes. God does not want us to be ignorant of these valuable spiritual assets He has put inside us through the Holy Spirit but we have to learn how to draw them out per time.
A red-hot desire is key to drawing out these gifts from the well of the Holy Spirit within us. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are not in heaven with God they came inside us with the Holy Spirit when we received Him. But we need to have a strong desire and appetite for their manifestation for them to show forth in our lives and meetings. Friend, nobody finds precious mineral resources on the surface of the ground. It has to be drawn out to the surface. And specialist skills and tools are required to undertake the task. In our case the fundamental tool is desire.
It is said that pursuit is the proof of desire. Desire is the seed of expectation and when expectation is properly channelled it yields manifestation. It is said that expectation is the mother of manifestation. Our first assignment is to develop a red-hot desire for the manifestation of God in our lives on a regular basis. One of the ways to generate a strong desire is to be dissatisfied with your present state and start to prepare yourself for change. This may require you to set time apart to pray and fast, give up some things or take some new disciplines.
For strong desire to be generated for something, you have to focus your thoughts on the thing and think about it frequently. For example, if you think of ice cream or food for a period of time, after a while you will find yourself having a strong craving to have ice cream and eat food. The same thing applies to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Friends, what you look longest become strongest in your heart. Your hunger sets your desire on fire.
Another way to develop a strong desire for something is by association. When you associate yourself with people that are manifesting the gifts of the Holy Spirit the same grace and gift on them would be triggered from within you because you have the same Holy Spirit. Your association with them will make you more sensitive to those gifts. One of the major ways I engage with people that manifest the gifts of the Holy Spirit is through their materials. I invest in their CDs, get their books etc., read and listen to them over and over again. Another type of association is the company of likeminded people who are embarking on the same journey toward the same destination. Corporate prayer is a very effective breeding ground for strong desire and manifestation of the Holy Spirit.
Another way to develop a strong desire and gather momentum for something is by speaking it. Friend, our confessions rule us. What you say is what you become. Say it until your own very words set your desire on fire for the manifestation of the Holy Spirit.
