Purpose

Genesis 1:26-“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” (New King James Version)

Genesis 1:26- “Then God said, “And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us. They will have power over the fish, the birds, and all animals, domestic and wild, large and small.” (Good News Translation)

Genesis 1:26 –“Then God said, “Let us make people in our image, to be like ourselves. They will be masters over all life? The fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the livestock, wild animals, and small animals.” (New Living Translation)

Purpose is defined as the reason for which something is done. I define it as the ‘WHY OF A THING or PERSON’. The original intent. Simply put the why or purpose of a thing is in the heart of the manufacturer.

The question now is what is the purpose of man in this world? Why did God make and put you here and not on planet Mars or Jupiter? The answer is in Genesis 1:26 in the above scripture.

From the above scriptures we can draw inferences on what God had in mind or intended when He created us. The first thing that He wants is a family; He wanted to reproduce Himself. He wanted a reflection and extension of heaven on earth.

This implies that you did not evolve from a gorilla rather you actually take after God. So the theory of evolution is a slap on God’s image and creativity. You are an extension of heaven on earth. God’s intention is that we bring heaven down to earth. Remember, ‘let thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven’.

Secondly He wants us to be in control of the universe i.e. the entire creation and not the other way round. When Adam was created he was created with power. That was why the devil was after him to collect the power and destroy him. Although Adam fell and the devil took the power from Him, Jesus came, got the power from the devil and gave it back to us. So right now anyone in Christ is seated far above all principalities, power and dominion. Hallelujah!

So what is the extent of our dominion “over all the earth?” God’s initial plan has not changed; His plan is for us to rule and reign in this earth as He is reigning in heaven. The Bible calls us the kings of the earth in Revelation 1:5. You are a king right now. Power has changed hands, it’s no longer in the hand of the devil, he is already defeated and you are already seated in heavenly places in Christ. You now have the power.

The Bible says, “Now are we the sons of God,” not later but right now. And if we are sons of God right now then we are to reign and rule as God has initially intended.

You may ask but what am I to do to reign, take charge and be in dominion? All you need to do is accept your new position in Christ and consciously do away with your past lowly opinion of yourself. Don’t wait for people to tell you who you are or what you can or can’t have. Call yourself into power by your declaration of God’s word. Make the devil mad and let the world know that you are in full control regardless of what your circumstances may say.

If you are standing on your inside it won’t be long before you will be standing on the outside. Say this out loud and clear, “because I am in Christ I am in total dominion and control in Jesus mighty name!”
