1I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected. 2 Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
God has put eternity in the hearts of men so that we can fear Him. We are created to be limitless. The bible declares that everything visible is a result of things that are invisible. Heb 11:3. This means Sight is a product of Insight. Vision is a driving force that precedes divine provision. God told Jeremiah His plans and that became his own driving force to seeing what God saw for his future. If what we see aligns with the picture God has shown us, then it means we have indeed seen well. A lot of people however are so consumed with challenges and situations that they become shallow minded and become without depth. After Jeremiah saw well, God said He would hasten His Word for effective performance. It is pertinent to note that there can’t be a performance without a clear vision.
There are basically 5 things we need to know in actualizing the plan and purpose of God for our lives.
WHAT, WHERE, WHY, HOW, WHEN?
WHAT IS THE VISION?
What is my assignment? What is the vision of the ministry God has placed me? What is my role and part there?
What is a definite and probing word that is included in a statement when one is in search for answers. Confusion is erased when you know what. A lot of people live other people’s dreams simply because they do not know there role/ part in the body.
Jesus clearly states in 1 Corinthians 12: 20 that “But now indeed there are many members, yet one body”. God gives a visionary the vision and we who believe in the vision of the set man have come to be not only partakers of the grace but also become channels through which God wants to fulfill the vision. We in turn will fulfill our assignment altogether in the corporate vision.
When you know what the vision is, it means we have knowledge of the part we are expected to walk. We however must walk only in the direction of the next step which is “Where are we going”?
WHERE ARE YOU GOING?
A vision must point in a specific direction. There must be a desired destination to avoid a journey in futility. A lot of destinies have been aborted because people are unable to give an answer to Where? God gave Jonah a vision of a deliverer and gave him the direction to follow. A lot of individuals marry wrongly, fall into the wrong career because they are clueless in regard to where they want to be in a specific time in their future.
Our thought process, associations and actions will point in the direction we have chosen to walk. The voice we follow whether of the Holy Spirit or otherwise will propel us in fulfilling purpose. As a member of an organisation, you must align with the direction of the visionary. We must all be on the same page to ensure we all safely arrive.
WHY?
A lot of people even Christians, sometimes make decisions without the consideration of the consequences involved. The question ‘Why’ will bring to the open hidden motives and or agenda in the pursuit of our God given vision. The question WHY will serve to checkmate for any form of disloyalty to the Vision. When we can answer why, we will be able to stand firm in the face of challenges and oppositions to the commission. Answering why will open the door to the expression of our gifts and talents.
When you know why you are a part of the vision of the ministry, we will not be lured away by other people’s dreams or get jealous of other people’s successes. A direction without an agenda can end up anywhere or nowhere. When we know the purpose God has brought us to be a part of a vision, then we will reveal Christ with the anointing and power of God in our individual lives. God had a plan when He created you (Jeremiah 29:11), He in turn gives you a plan and purpose to fulfill.
HOW TO I GET THERE?
A map helps you know how to get to your destination, what direction you are traveling, how far along you have been traveling and the distance you still have to cover to reach your destination. The Word of God is our map to get us from where we are to God’s desired place for us. A lot of people have dreams, goals and aspirations but many never see the light of day because they have no blue print leading them. Our mental state must always align with the Word of God to give direction as to how we live, our conduct, attitude and the character required to ensure we not only see the Promised Land but enter it.
People who ask how do not miss their path. The bible says the Word of God is a lamp unto our feet and a lamp to our path.
WHEN?
Ecclesiastes 1:11A – He has made everything beautiful in its time.
There is a time for everything, a time to plant and a time to harvest what has been planted. As long as your vision was initiated by God, there will be a fulfillment in its time. The vision is always for an appointed time and God has told us in Habakkuk 2:3 to wait for it. The picture of our desired future has been birth forth within us and it’s only a matter of time before it manifests.
Psalm 126:1 “When the LORD brought back the captivity of Zion, We were like those who dream.”
It is not a question of if but of when. God tells us our time will eventually come. When your vision is realized in the corporate vision, it will be so compelling and it would be all you have ever imagined and more. God showed Jeremiah a picture of a great prophetic ministry when he was only a child, Jeremiah had an insight, believed it and God performed it.
How do you achieve the vision?
Start from where you are, Use what you have and you will do all things through Christ who strengthens you.
