John 10:10 ‘I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly’.
We know from experience that every promise of God will require you to do something in order to appropriate it, as the saying goes ‘success does not fall like ripe cherries from the tree’, you have a part to play in the activation of Gods promise in your life. It is not the will of God for you to toil or struggle all day and night with little and have nothing to show for it. Toil also means working hard and having little, it means exerting great energy with little outcome, it means investing heavily and no dividends to show for it. No! This is not the will of God. His will is expressed in His word;
‘I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly’.
Yes! God wants you to have plenty of good things, He is not interested in giving you just enough of what you need but He is willing to give you more than enough. One of the stories in the bible that pictures the kind of abundance God is talking about is the story of Peter in Luke 5:4.
Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. 6 And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. 7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
When Jesus requested that Simon should thrust out a little from the land, millions of question would have crossed his mind; Why my boat? Can’t this man see that I am just coming from a night shift? He should be considerate enough to know that by now I should be tired, seeing us washing out nets should have told him that we have closed for the day. Despite this barrage of questions and the frustrated state he found himself, still he obeyed the voice of the master. ‘We have toiled all night but at thy word’ what happened thereafter was an unprecedented abundance, a net breaking harvest.
Whenever the WORD shows up, toiling MUST stop. It is the same WORD that showed up in Genesis chapter 1, ‘God said let there be light and there was light’ The WORD came and darkness disappeared. Mary said to the disciples at that wedding in Cana ‘whatever He tells you to do, do it’ and when they did, they experienced abundance. It is the same word we have received and what is required is for us to believe it just like Peter did and the rest will be history. Note that every time God places a demand on what you have, His interest is not in taking but giving back to you in abundance more than what was taken from you.
Note the initial expression of Peter’s frustration, but he obeyed all the same. He honored the word of the Master above his own experience, ability and frustration, the result was astronomical. Friends, the word of God has gone forth! You only need to believe it more than what you read in the tabloid or what you have experienced in recent times or what is happening to people around. Yes it is a fact that there is global recession but the truth is ‘You have life and you have it abundantly’. The word of God has never failed and this time around, it will not fail you, so get ready! Enlarge your store house for you are about to experience the kind of abundant living that you have never experienced before. No more toiling, enough of working like an elephant and eating like an ant, enough of struggling, just key yourself into the prophecy, release yourself to be used of God and place His word above everything, then your story at the end of 2013 will be that of abundant living.
