Luke 21:34 – 22:23

Jesus taught the people on the signs of the end time saying, they should watch and pray at every season so that they could escape the tribulations and to be prepared enough to stand before the son of man. He taught every day, as people came early in the morning to listen to Him.
It was Passover time, the chief priest and the scribes sought how they might put Jesus to death. Satan entered into Judas Iscariot one of Jesus’ disciples and he joined in the plan to betray and kill Jesus with a promise that he would be paid some money.
Jesus sent Peter and John to go make ready the Passover which they did. He shared with His disciples how he had longed to share the Passover feast with them before His suffering. Jesus received a cup, gave thanks and gave His disciples to share amongst themselves. This was a representation of His blood. He did likewise with the bread. This was a representation of His body. He charged His disciples to do this in remembrance of Him.
Jesus said to His disciples that ‘for the son of man goeth has it has been determined but woe unto that man through whom He is betrayed’. The disciples wondered which of them would betray Jesus.

The cares of this world has been created to make Christians lose focus of the ultimate goal which is, to make Heaven at the end of our race. We really have to watch and pray so we might be able to withstand all the end time occurrences which have started already.
A major distraction in the world today, is the love of money. We must have heard or seen how people go to the extent of killing just because of money. Judas dinned and wined with Jesus yet the love of money was his weakness. He gave his salvation and instead of a blessing from Jesus, he received a curse. This is to say Christians are not left out. Search yourself deeply, would you do anything just to make more money? Or would you rather be satisfied with what you have? Yes our God wishes we prosper that is to say, any wealth not gotten in the way of the Lord would only attract a curse.
Jesus sees the heart of everyone. Let your motive be right with God. God is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, that he shall reap.

Personal Declaration
I will not be distracted by the cares of the world.
I shall only do the will of God in Jesus name.

Reading – Luke 21:34 – 22:23

34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

37 Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives, 38 and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus

22 Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guardand discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money. He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.

The Last Supper

Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”

“Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.

10 He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 12 He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”

13 They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.

14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”

17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you.18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.[a] 21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table. 22 The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!” 23 They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.
