King of kings and Lord of Lords – Part 1

DECEMBER 29

Matthew 2:1-2: Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Revelation 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS .

Merry Christmas to you all and happy new year in advance. We will be crossing over into the new year in few days from now but looking back in retrospect one cannot but be thankful to God for His goodness and mercy over us in our families, ministry and in our nation. At Christmas, we celebrated the birth of the new born King who was born in a manger. He was born to rule the world and the bible says in Isaiah 9:6, ‘and the government shall be upon his shoulder’ this connotes that the responsibility of governing will rest on him. Therefore as a people and as a nation if we trust in his leadership to lead us as our King and our shepherd, then we can be sure that he will lead us into green pastures that we so much desire, he will lead us beside the still waters where we can be refreshed without fear of terror.

Paradoxically kings are meant to be born in highly exalted places and not a manger, but this King humbled himself right from birth, he gave up his royal bed for a basket full of straws, his crown for thorns, gave up his throne for a manger and eventually ended on the cross. This act of sacrifice is to make out of every believer a king just like him that will reign in his stead when he departs the world. So his mission as a king is to come and make new kings out of us all according the scriptures in Revelation 1:6 ‘And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen and Revelation 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. Jesus is the King who made us kings so that we can reign and that is his where he got his title as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. So while we celebrate the birth of The King at Christmas, we should also note that the celebration is also the enthronement of Kings, it’s your coronation as a king to reign on earth.
