John 5:19 & 30
“Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.”
“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father, which hath sent me.”
We have been told and have read about Jesus Christ the Saviour, Master, Lord, Redeemer, The Great I Am, The Mighty One, The Word, The Lamb of God etc. All these are true but we have never been told about Jesus the Follower. This is partly because some feel it would negatively impact on His invincible status and downplay His unequalled Herculean performance in the redemption of mankind. However, nothing can be farther from the truth because in the above scriptures Jesus portrayed Himself as the Submissive Follower, taking every step after the order of God the Father, no wonder the Father delights in Him.
It is not sufficient to desire and pray for promotion or greatness but it is equally as important to follow the process and pattern set out in the scriptures to attain these great heights. Jesus laid down his life to bring in a harvest of lives into God’s kingdom, He sowed His throne to reap the earth, its inhabitants and also regain His throne. He laid down His crown of gold to wear a crown of thorns and He reaped the name that is above every other name. He died a shameful death and He reaped the most glorious resurrection for Himself and everyone who will accept Him as Lord.
I have gone through all these to tell you that for you to become all that you ought to be, you have to follow the pattern of Jesus. You have to take serious cognisance of God’s agenda and commit to it totally and like Jesus when you sit down to take stock of your life it would have become equally as glorious as His was and still is. And the icing on the cake is that all those good things you gave up God would modify and multiply them and give them back to you in the best way possible.
Start taking account of the sacrifices you are making and have made for the Lord and begin to rejoice because God will not owe anybody. Begin to expect him to repay you hundred fold in a colourful manner and with interest. I am saying this from personal experience because God has always paid me back for the sacrifices I have made and am still making for His Kingdom even when I have forgotten about the sacrifices I have made.
I remember one day I was on an airplane traveling for ministry and God said, “Son I just want to thank you for what you are doing for me,” and I was really delighted. As if that was not enough God began to open doors of promotions and opportunities for me in mighty waves all because I sought to please Him at my expense and I did it with great joy. In return He spared no expense to bless me and He is still blessing me.
I need to sound a word of caution, please note I never did it for the reward I did it because I love the Lord and He saw my heart and He blessed me. I feel this is a very important element in the success journey that many have thrown away, good conscience with pure motives. No matter what good a man does if his motive and conscience is not right he would end up losing because God looks at the heart and not at the physical activity only. May I remind you that activity does not always culminate in productivity!
I pray that Christ in you will supernaturally enable you to look inward and sweep your conscience clean and make your motives right and you will see the days of heaven in your life.
