How to Triumph by the Word Part 1

2 Timothy 3:15-17And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

The Word works when we work it. That’s God’s divine set up. The Word cannot bring forth fruit unless it is planted, watered and nurtured under the right conditions. Many have missed this truth. They think that just knowing and quoting scriptures is all that is required to walk in triumph. As I always say, parrots can repeat the word after you but that does not make the parrot as intelligent as you. This week, I will discuss with you God’s method by which we are to triumph by the Word.

According to 2 Timothy 3:16, the Bible made it clear how the Word of God would produce profit for us. It shows us how it would take us from minus to plus, plus and plus. It says ‘All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness.’ That is, by accepting the teaching, rebuke, correction and training in righteousness from the Word of God we glean the profit in it and enjoy divine triumph. But how, you make ask? The following provide the answer-:

Profit through receiving teaching – the word teaching in this context means confirmation in the truths of the gospel, getting to know what one would otherwise be ignorant of. It connotes a cure for ignorance. The Bible says in Hosea 4: 6 ‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge’. Therefore, through the teaching of the Word of God we are cured of ignorance and moved from the position of being controlled to being in control in life. That is a great victory or achievement, otherwise known as triumph.

Profit through receiving rebuke – the word rebuke means to stop, to drive back, to reprehend for a fault, to check, to heal. In other words, we triumph and gain profit from the Word by taking a check when we are reprehended for a fault or wrong doing. By accepting rebuke from the Word, the enemy is stopped from running rampant in our lives and the plan and purpose of God goes unhindered. As you are aware, when the plan of God is unhindered, you walk in triumph. Proverbs 9:8 – Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee; rebuke a wise man and he will love thee.
