How to build and secure your hope and expectation
Romans 5:5– This hope does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God’s gift to us. (Good news Translation).
What is hope? One of the definitions of hope is expectation of something desired. Being hope-less is the loss of expectation of the desired result. There is positive hope and negative hope. There is natural hope and supernatural hope. According to the above scripture there is a hope that disappoints and there is a hope that does not disappoint. Every human being has the man-kind of hope, which is based on our five senses, experience and accumulated data from past occurrences and experimentation. This type of hope can disappoint because it is subject to change because the source is man-made and based on physical parameters.
The God kind of hope is infused into the human spirit through the revelation of God’s unconditional love for you. It comes through the supply of the spirit of Jesus Christ and the prayer as stated in Philippians 1:20. When you carry the revelation of God’s love for you, your hopes and expectations will always be red hot because you know that you are special to God, you are the apple of His eye and He will never, never forever let you down. But if you don’t have the revelation of His love for you or you have lost the grip of his unconditional love for you, you are likely to lose your hope of greatness in hard times.
Prayer is also a vital tool in reinvigorating your hope and expectation. Do you remember what happened after the Christians prayed in Acts 4 when they were being persecuted? Verses 31 & 33 say,and when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. Praying in the Holy Spirit helps you to build yourself up and stir up the life of God from inside you to reign over your situation.
Friend, you cannot build your hopes and dreams on what the government and banks are saying. If you do, you will end up with a nightmare. The psalmist says in Psalm 16:8, “I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved” Let the word of God be the basis of your hopes and expectations. Dream based on God’s word. Visualise scriptures in your mind. From now on, whenever you read Bible promises turn the words you read into pictures and build your hopes and expectations from them. The result will amaze you because you will not be put to shame. Don’t just quote scriptures, picture scriptures, dream scriptures and then proclaim them. See them first through the eyes of your mind. This may take time to develop but it’s worth the training and exercises; develop it until it is crystal clear and then speak it forth by the power of the spirit of Christ the anointed one. Then you will come into the fulfilment of Romans 5:5. Now it’s over to you, get up and go to work. I see your hope grow wings in Jesus’ mighty name.
