How are strongholds developed?

1 Thessalonians 5:21 – Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Romans 12:2 – And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The raw materials for developing strongholds are thoughts and imagination. Every stronghold starts with a suggestive thought. It is said that imagination is the greatest nation.

A wise man said,
Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become habits. Watch your habits; they become character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

It is what you hold strong to that determines your outcome in life. The Bible says that as a man thinks so is he.

Each of us is a tripartite being, each person is a spirit, we each have a soul and we each live in a body. Our soul is comprised of our mind, will, and emotions. The soul serves as a medium between the outside world and the inside world. All the signals we get from the physical world are processed in our minds and the final outcome influences our will and emotions. Also, when we get a signal from God through the leading of the Holy Spirit, either during our personal devotion, in church, at work or wherever we are, our mind interprets the signal to us in a language that we understand and as we respond to this divine signal, we activate our spiritual dimension.

I mentioned all these to let you know that the source of the signal that you mostly accommodate and set your mind to submit to, becomes the stronghold in your life and consequently, your will and emotions become subordinate to it. Romans 6:16 -Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey–whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

A wise man said that where the mind goes there the body will follow. The central nervous system is the part of the nervous system consisting of the brain and spinal cord. The central nervous system is so named because it integrates information it receives, coordinates and influences the activities of all parts of the human body. The brain is part of the mind where information is processed. If you feed your mind on a regular basis with the word of God and believe and embrace what you learn, you will begin to develop a Biblical mindset and a godly world-view. This type of stronghold brings out the divine nature of God in you for the world to see the Kingdom of God in manifestation.

In my next writing, I will discuss how to destroy strongholds and de-construct a wrong dominant mindset. I want you to know that we all have strongholds that need to be pulled down and replaced. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians was to Christians and not unbelievers. The Corinthians’ church members were known for their unparalleled demonstration of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, yet Paul wrote to them that they needed to pull down some strongholds that were holding them back. Strongholds can protect or imprison. They can make you a victim or a victor. They can tie you to the past and or open you up into new vistas. Please note that all strongholds have a spiritual origin, physical impacts and eternal repercussions.
