Doing it God’s way – Serving with the Right Heart, Attitude and in the Right Place

2 Chronicles 25:2 – And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

It is clear from the above scripture that God is not only interested in your service but in you serving Him with the right heart and attitude and in the specified place. Every vision has its location and every service has a required attitude that goes with it. For example, the attitude required of a soldier to carry out his military service is different from the attitude required of a waitress to carry out her service. Furthermore, the places of the duty of the two are different, so also is the timing.

Friend, doing things God’s way is no joke at all. The Bible says the labourer is worthy of his wage, so if we are to enjoy divine wages then we must perform according to divine pattern.

The Lord has been impressing on my heart lately to begin to prioritise better and avoid time wasters. The devil always sends time wasters into our lives; it is our duty to discern them and avoid them. There was a prophet in the Bible (1 King 13), who God sent to give the Word and God specifically told him not to eat or drink but to leave the city after the prophecy and not hang around. He prophesied as God commanded and he went on his way but along came another prophet telling him that he should wait and have a meal with him. At first, he refused but after much persuasion he yielded. Guess what? He was killed by the lion and lost his life and reward. You will not lose your reward.

Yes, he did what he was commanded at the right place but along his path he allowed another person to change the attitude of his heart away from the divine assignment that God gave him. I want you to examine your heart and see if you are doing what God wants you to do, in the way he wants you to do it and with a consistent good attitude of the heart. Your attitude determines your altitude. The state of your heart affects your perception and outlook. Your outlook determines your opinions. Whether you like it or not all these affect your results in life.

I pray that you will not run another man’s race and you will not fail at your divine service in Jesus’ mighty name.

Joel 2:7-9 – They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
