Divine Peace – Jesus our Fullness

John 14:27 – (FULLNESS) Peace I leave with you, my (FULLNESS) peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (emphasis added).

One of the definitions of peace is fullness and wholeness. Jesus is called the Prince of Peace and one of the redemptive names of God is Jehovah Shalom (God our peace).

Jesus is our fullness. He is our peace. This implies that with anything or in any area of lack in our lives, He will fill up to the full. He will see to it that every need is met and disappointment is turned around. He will see to it that you become all you are created to be as you cooperate with Him. Our lives are like a ring donut and only Christ can truly fill up the hole within it. Money cannot fill it up; your companion cannot fill it up; and a new/better job cannot fill it up. What I mean is money, a companion, and job(s) without the blessing of God, cannot really fulfil you. They can bring temporary pleasure but it will not be for long. Remember, it is the blessing of God that makes rich and adds no sorrow with it (Proverbs 10:22).

Two types of peace were mentioned in the Bible. There is the peace that the world gives and the peace of God (John 14:27). The difference is, the peace of the world has a string attached to it and it is temporary. The peace of the world is not for your long term good. It is for immediate/temporary pleasure and prolonged discomfort. In the world’s scheme of things, a man that is up today may be down tomorrow. As you are aware, a man with a 20-year-old computer science qualification without an upgrade is no longer relevant. While 20 years ago, he might have been a whiz kid and the best at that time, today he is no longer a force to reckon with. This is because the peace that the world gives is based on facts and not on the truth and, facts keeps changing. When I was in college, we were told that an atom is the smallest particle in nature. Today that is no longer the case. On the other hand when I was in Bible College, I was also told that Jesus is Lord. Today Jesus is still Lord of all.

The peace of God is based on truth and not fact. Truth supersedes and changes fact. Jesus, in John 14:6 stated, ‘I am the way the truth and the life’. Jesus the Truth is also our peace. He is our fullness. When you look at your job and you feel discouraged, invite Jesus to fulfil you in your situation. Jesus lives inside you and you can pull from the fullness in you and apply it to your situation. Speak fullness and wholeness to your job, career, studies, marriage, finance, etc. Call out to Him every day as your fullness. Tell Him, “Jesus you are my fullness. Make up every missing links in my life. Fill every valley in my business. Reconnect every disruption in my walk with the Father. Fulfil me Lord, because only you can give true and permanent pleasure.” As you say this prayer you will begin to see changes in your life.

Personal declaration for the day

I have peace on the inside and peace on the outside. I am an agent of peace to my world. My circumstances will not control me; I will control my circumstances. As I have received the peace of God, I will share it with everyone around me.
