BAPTISM
We believe in the baptism as a ministry. We believe that one of the ways to be initiated into the family of God, be a strong member of the body of Christ and the church is through baptism. We strongly recommend that anyone who is willing to move higher in their relationship with God, through His Son Jesus Christ, must partake of these wonderful experiences. Therefore, we introduce you to this feat that takes you deeply into the faith of the Son of God.
Jesus, in His final instructions to His disciples, asked them to go into every nation baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. So this is scriptural and completely instructional. We believe according to the Word of God and the things which He has shown us that it is important every believer experience this.
What is Baptism?
Baptism is gotten from the Greek word called ‘baptizo’. It means to be fully immersed into liquid or something. It is a full immersion into the covering of the body from the Head. Through baptism, most believers have been activated and empowered spiritually to become key influence creators in the Kingdom of God.
Types of Baptism
There are three types of Baptism:
- Baptism into Christ:
This is otherwise known as being born again. When a person gives his or her life to Christ, we believe that they are deeply immersed into Christ Himself and by so, we believe that they have become dead, buried and has resurrected in Him into the newness of life.
- Baptism into Water:
This is also known as water baptism. It is an outward show of our inner faith. It is basically an expression of our newly found faith in God through His Son, Jesus Christ and we believe that everyone should go through this as a way of solidifying our faith in Him whom we have now put our trust. It is the declaration of our new faith in God to the entire world. Wouldn’t it be awesome to let the people in your world know that you have a new faith in Christ and you are not ashamed to declare it?
- Baptism of the Spirit:
This is the activation or the regeneration power of God in our spirit. Through the baptism of the Spirit, the power of God is open for access. This is done through the laying of hand of someone who is a believer or a minister of the Gospel. It comes with the evidence of speaking in a new tongue which was first experienced on the day of Pentecost in the Jewish tradition. The disciples of Jesus were the first to experience the release of the Spirit when they gathered at the upper room and we believe that for anyone to work in the power of God, they must experience this as well. It is also one of the ways of accessing spiritual gifts that have been given to us by God according to His wilful extension of His grace.
Therefore, if you have not been baptized, we encourage you today to ask any of our ministers for details or look through our church information on our website for further enquires.
