Genesis 12:1-4
Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
Deuteronomy 28:1-3
“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God: Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.
Anointing – the word Chrisma in Greek means anointing. It is means application of an ointment on a person or thing, it communicates a meaning of being made holy and set apart to God, and it communicates divine enablement. It also known as unction. This implies that the anointing comes with and for a purpose. It also implies that it only works when we embrace and walk in the purpose for which we have been anointed.
In Bible times to cease anointing was a sign of mourning (1 Samuel 14:2, Daniel 10:3). Anointing connotes spiritual joy and refreshment. (Psalm 23:5, 45:7).
David was anointed three times in connection with his kingship, first, prospectively, (1samuel 16:13), then as king over Judah (2 Samuel 2:4), then over all Israel (2Samule 5:3). This implies that anointing is in levels.
The anointing and the Holy Spirit are in separable. The anointing is the tool that the Holy Spirit uses to effect his presence and divine purpose. There is general anointing (1 John 2:20) and specific anointing associated with offices and callings and gifting (Luke 4:18-19, Ephesians 4:11, 1Corinthians 12:28).
All believers have the general anointing and can operate in it on a daily and hourly basis if we activate it. The specific anointing is limited to our specific assignment and purpose. For example I have a pastoral calling and it helps me to pastor in a Godly way when I activate it and engage with the Holy Spirit in what I do. Note, the Anointing does not flow automatically, it has to be activated. However, I cannot use my pastoral anointing to live a successful marital life. I need a different grace to have successful marriage though from the same source. This is the mistake many believers make; they think because they are working in the church their children would be automatically raised without investing time with their children. The anointing is not an excuse to be irresponsible rather the anointing puts more responsibility on you for high performance.
The anointing guides and enables but you still have to carry out the action. Jesus was anointed with Holy Ghost and power but he still had to get up and go about to heal the sick and do good to the oppressed. The anointing does not give you an excuse it give you divine plus.
Greatness – is Megas in Greek, is connotes larger in external size, measure, degree and intensity. It signifies over and above, more abundant, greater.
This month God is anointing us for greatness. He is setting us up and apart for great things. He is putting us over above every limit so that we may bring others over and above the limit. He is releasing a greater intensity of his grace on us and through us. He is increasing us in size and measure and degree. We are being divinely enabled to go over and above our natural strength. This month God is calling us out from small thinking and giving us higher thoughts and setting us up on higher way.
Some are born great; some achieve greatness and some others have greatness thrust upon them. In Christ greatness is our birthright, through the anointing of the Holy Spirit we rise from one level of greatness to another, and through God’s agenda of divine covenant, the hidden treasures of darkness is transferred to us.
